BREAST MRI AT MNAP DIAGNOSTIC CENTER
MNAP Diagnostic Center is proud to offer an important addition to its comprehensive diagnostic imaging services of the Breast. The combination of a state of the art 1.5T High-Field MRI scanner and a dedicated 7-channel phased array breast coil allows MNAP to offer high quality Breast MRI scanning for patients in our community. Due to recent advances in technology and approval for reimbursement from leading insurance carriers such as Medicare, Breast MRI is now at the forefront of the battle against Breast Cancer.
Thanks to its image detail, MRI has demonstrated it can detect small breast lesions that are sometimes missed in mammography. MRI can also successfully image dense breast tissue (common in young women) and breasts with implants, which present problems for traditional mammography.
*Recent research reported in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that breast MRI may find nearly twice as many breast cancer tumors as mammograms do.

Uses for Breast MRI
- Determine if there are breast abnormalities
- If a growth looks malignant, determine where it is in the breast (how close is it to the chest wall, skin and nipple), how big it is, and if there are enlarged lymph nodes
- Evaluate breast implant integrity and detect breast cancer in women with breast augmentation
- Evaluate the existence of cancer in high-risk women, especially younger women with dense breast tissue
- Evaluate patients with positive margins for residual cancer
