The 3-D MLC provides automated, electronic replacement for custom-designed and custom-cut beam blocks. The MLC is fully integrated into the head of the PRIMUS® Linear Accelerator, and leaf position can be set and verified by the LANTIS® Oncology Management System.
The fully integrated double focus multileaf collimator (MLC) is the benchmark of the oncology industry. It is the only fully divergent system on the market today. This design is ideally suited for the delivery of advanced radiation therapy techniques and is a main component in the delivery of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
The Siemens 3-D multileaf collimator is designed to replace custom-cut blocks in most clinical cases. This can greatly improve clinical workflow. By eliminating the need to add or change physical blocks to most patient treatment fields, the 3D-MLC helps improve patient throughput.
