The Siemens VIRTUAL WEDGE® option is an elegant solution that dosimetrically emulates physical wedge performance.
The Siemens VIRTUAL WEDGE product is designed for ease of commissioning and ease of use. This is an important option to increase patient throughput. VIRTUAL WEDGE can be used in combination with the 3-D MLC system and SIMTEC® to further improve the quality and efficiency of your radiation therapy department.
Like a physical wedge, the VIRTUAL WEDGE is designed to have a constant wedge factor of 1 + 0.05, regardless of field size. The patented, real-time VIRTUAL WEDGE Dynamic Icon displays actual jaw position versus monitor unit distribution during treatment.
VIRTUAL WEDGE provides a 20 cm X 40 cm half beam wedge capability.
